FAQ

What do we mean when we call people to Live Offensively for God?

We simply mean that Christians are called to have an offensive role against competing world-views in a culture. Christianity is a faith that if lived out will penetrate darkness, and expose lies with the light of the truth. In sports it is the offense that wins the game. In a war it is the offense that wins the battle.

Why did you name your company Live Offensively for God?

The name came to one of my close friends and I at a retreat center in New Jersey. The preacher was talking about how Nehemiah was re-building the wall around Jerusalem. The text says that he and his men would work with a tool in their right hand and a sword in their left. They were living offensively doing what they knew was right no matter what anyone else thought. As soon as the story came to light the name came out of it.

Our Christian critics' number one allegation against what we are doing is that we are too offensive to non-believers. So it fits all the way around. Why not just embrace what we are already being called?

Why does it seem you are ok with offending the very people you are trying to reach?

"Living Offensively" is not about 'offending' everyone that we come in contact with (we don't kick dirt into the faces of those who oppose us), though we have found that as we Christians do engage a culture with the truth, many people are offended by the offensive spiritual role that we are taking. In other words, we're not promoting a lifestyle that is bent on offending those around us. Rather, we believe a life that is genuinely focused on the truth will naturally result in offending the world around us.

Lots of Christians hate the ABORTION IS MEAN t-shirt cause they say it is too offensive for a pro-choicer to see and often they are right. Critics claim that our t-shirt is not an expression of love. We strongly disagree. Our t-shirt is an expression of love to the children who have no voice and who are being killed by the thousands each day. We see the abortion holocaust the same way as we see the Jewish holocaust, and we want to do what we can to end it. The purpose of that t-shirt is to get people to discuss Abortion and it does get people to do that everywhere that people wear it. In America we still have our freedom of speech. Thank God for that. However, most Christians don't use it because they are too afraid of offending anyone.
