Our culture loudly proclaims that we must be sexually promiscuous in order to find fulfillment in our lives. But the so called "sexual revolution" has left our generation in soulful bondage and in terrible dissatisfaction. According to Genesis, our sexuality is the most beautiful gift that we have received from God. Our sexuality is also the most incredible gift that we can give to the person we choose to spend our life with. God created us to be able to spiritually, emotionally, and literally retreat into our spouse and become one flesh. In other words, each of us is given a beautiful gift that we are meant to share with only one other person, the one we most deeply love. What an amazing idea!

Amazing indeed, something so amazing that Satan spent the rest of his life thinking of ways - creative ways - to destroy it. Prostitution, pornography, polygamy, rape, incest, the list goes on and on. During a lecture on gender Professor of Theology Dr. Syd Hielema said: "The most precious things in life are the ones that can get the most screwed up." That certainly is the case with sexuality, and the Evil One knows it.

One of the first steps in building a defense against such attacks in preserving purity and wholesomeness is being honest about reality even if it’s awkward. That means openly saying things the way they really are. And the fact of the matter is that the word Virgin is NOT a dirty word.

Maybe if we proclaimed this more often people would be willing to believe it!
