As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion."

When Malcolm Muggeridge published a documentary on Mother Teresa, the world caught a glimpse of what real suffering, real peace, and real dedication is all about. She visited over 120 countries and worked in over 600 missions before her death in 1997. Her fame for helping the poor and needy touched millions of lives, even earning her the title "Blessed Teresa of Calcutta" from Pope John Paul II. For once, the all-to-common goal for "world peace" became a reality. She took Jesus' words about the poor quite seriously, and in fact said "abortion" is the "greatest destroyer of peace."

Despite the claims we often hear today about "women's rights" and "freedom," this Godly woman of wisdom cracked down on what she considered to be the worst detriment to society. Through her eyes, abortion was no more different than passively walking by thousands of dying people when they easily could have been helped. Indeed, it is the passivity of Christians and all people today that are keeping this legal holocaust alive. Will we go with the flow and ignore the needy and the unborn? Or will we take action, and like Mother Teresa, refuse to step down from the stark reality of abortion?
