Heaven is a place that so many have conceived to be beautiful and wonderful, often our pictures of clouds and white contrast with the dark imagery of this frail and angry earth. Heaven has been described in Revelation as made of precious stones, gold, but most of all a place of joy. A big reunion of the body of Christ. A place to walk with God and never hunger or thirst again. A place of unseen beauty. So wonderful that human words cannot even do justice to describe the place. No more suffering, no more loss, it is the place that followers of Christ go to after death.
Jesus said in one of the most famous prayers of all time, "Thy will be done, ON earth as it is in Heaven"
To be honest that prayer is often misunderstood and even abused.
Earth has lost it's luster in the eyes of a lot of people. It's easy to look at the earth we're on now with it's genocide, war, famine, and forget that we our God is bigger than all those things. We have all been commissioned through Christ to be the light of this world. It is our responsibility to spread the word of God. Christ prayed that the will of God would be done on earth just like it is in heaven. It is up to us as His church to share our hearts with the people around us. To make this earth a place that is like the heaven we have heard of.
We can share the Word of God with the hurting and bring them the love of Christ. We can wipe away the tears of the hurting, feed the poor, clothe the naked, and set the prisoners free. Some people are too heavenly minded for any earthly good, on the flip-side though some people are too earthly minded for any heavenly good. The average person has 65-75 years on this earth. It's tragic how many lives are wasted just surviving. Many people survive, few ever truly live. Those that live? They are the ones who fight the spiritual battles and establish the word of God on earth. They are the ones who bring the fruit of the spirit, the justice of God, the righteousness of Christ to this lost and dying world. When was the last time you established the word of God on earth?
