Postmodernism has invaded this generation. It's one of the first times in human history that we feel we cannot even know truth. Years ago, if you asked someone a question they would often use observations and empirical evidence to draw a conclusion (Even if they didn't realize that's what they are doing). Today if you were to interview random people on the streets of NYC and ask questions, people might deny the very things that are so obvious to everyone of us.
Moral relativism, non-absolute truth, and a lack of belief that can even know truth, perpetuates our culture. Yet Christ spoke thousands of years ago of this modern problem, he knew that in every generation people desired to hear and see what was true.
It's a lie that we cannot know truth. Jesus said that to live, dwell, to abide in His words would make you His disciples. Being His disciples means that you would KNOW truth. And truth? It will set you free.
What does that mean? When we know the truth of God's word we no longer need to be slaves to sin. We know what happens to us after we die, we know what life is about, we know how the very earth was created. Truth is incredible. Yet so many people deny it! Some people today will deny that there is evil in the world. They have believed enough lies that they can no longer even believe in right or wrong. Many people claim truth is true for one person but not to another. This is absolutley foolish. To deny truth is to ignore the evils of the Holocaust, the creation of earth, goodness of giving to the poor, the reality of heaven, hell, and ultimately Christ.
Jesus offers answers to all of our questions. Answers to the deepest longings in our heart, the worst trials we can go through, and how to live a wise and righteous life. To dive into the bible is to dive into the most beautiful love letter ever written. The word of God will give you the words to say to broken hearts, the strength to confront sin and stand up to evil. The truth that God offers will invade your heart, your mind, your very soul. You won't be able to get it out of your head, off of your hands, away from your eyes. The truth will change who you are. Are you willing to dwell in it?
